Philip studied music at Lancaster University before completing his training at Central School of Speech And Drama. His versatile tenor voice has led to many leading roles in opera and musical theatre whilst his skills as an actor have also found him in many varied roles in theatre and television.

Recently he has played Rodolfo in the Olivier Award winning production of "La Boheme" at the Soho Theatre and won rave reviews for his portrayal of Koko in Charles Court Opera’s production of “The Mikado” at the King’s Head Theatre.

This year Philip will be covering Mr Snow in Opera North’s “Carousel” and playing the role of Ernest in the first professional revival of Gilbert and Sullivan’s last opera “The Grand Duke”.

Other work includes Arnalta in "The Coronation of Poppea" directed by Mark Ravenhill, Prince Tamino in "The Magic Flute" for Mantissa Opera, Nadir "The Pearl Fishers" (National Tour) Swansea City Opera, Almaviva in "The Barber Of Seville" for Opera Up Close and a special performance of “The Yeomen Of The Guard" at the Tower of London with Carl Rosa Opera.
